In a five decade span (1977 to present) Doug Deforest has been a constant in the country music, gospel and pop business.Change is a must in the music business, and Deforest reinvents himself with every turn of the musical wheel. Artist, Television personality, Writer and Producer, Deforest moves from one to the other with ease as the situation presents itself. Born in Missouri, brought up in the music business in Houston, Texas, and now calling Cherokee Village, Arkansas home, Deforest opened Lake Paradise Studio five years ago with a vision that artists could use the serene lakeside studio as a refuge from the day to day hustle of city life.
A successful producer and writer in the European field, Deforest tours regularly in Europe with other artists such as Jody Booth, Susan Hickman, Liz Talley and others bringing country music to the fans there. Doug's new CD, aptly titled "Carry on" should be available in late September and will be a collection of his thoughts thru the last year set to music. From the song "When you have a dream", a rocker dedicated to his sister and her 1975 Licking, Missouri volleyball team for their inclusion in the Missouri Sports hall of fame, to "Carry on", a moving tribute to the ones lost from his peer group this year, this will be his most diverse CD to date!
This is Doug first release for Voyage/orchard/sony and a dream to have this CD in the talented hands of marketing guru Michael Edging and longtime motown producer Jerry Marcellino, whos work with Michael Jackson, The Jackson five, Frankie Valli, UB40 and others make him one of the top impresarios in the business.l
2017 the Grammy organization honored Dougs new CD with FIVE first round Grammy nominations including Best New Artist and Best song in the general field, and in the Country field best vocal performance, best new single and best CD.
Ken Reynolds has been a professional guitarist for over 30 years.
Born and raised in Texas City, Texas, Ken started his professional career at age 15 as a guitarist at the world famous Gilley’s Club in Pasadena, Texas.
After several years of tutelage under the great guitarist, Manuel Pedraza and graduating from high school, Ken was hired out of his music store job to “hit the road” with the “Jack Welch Show” for 4 years, touring the country, learning to become a real performer and doing recording session work at Adobe Studios in El Paso, Texas.
With that experience under his belt, Ken decided to “head east” to become a member of the touring group “Man Over Board”, a musical group that traveled non-stop around the nation playing primarily nightclubs, honkytonks and the hotel circuit. During this period, Ken taught himself to be proficient on multiple instruments and became a “first adopter” of computer art and graphics programs as they related to music.
Ever the performer, Ken also dabbled in acting in live shows produced at Disneyworld and Universal Studios in Florida.
After 15 years on the road, Ken moved back to Houston and immediately began showing up on stage around town as the featured guitarist with what seemed like virtually every major and minor act in the area. In addition to thousands of local shows over the years, Ken has toured with Little Texas, Kevin Fowler, Roger Creager, Blake Weldon, Kevin Eagan, Russell Ray, Ryan Rossen, Ravyn Dixon, Jesse Roach and Bayou Roux.
These days, Ken somehow keeps an incredible schedule that includes 3 young children, weekly recording sessions, new artist development, songwriting, record production and a graphic arts business in addition to playing gigs at least 4 days a week.
Ken was honored in 2016 as the recipient of the Guitar Player of the Year by the Texas Country Music Association.
Ken is a Founding Member of The Tailgaters and when you witness a show you will tell right away he is the Class Clown of the group. Not only is Ken the lead guitarist he is also featured on Lead Vocals on several songs.
You won’t want to miss the Devil In The Blue Dress and that might just be Ken.
A lifelong lover of music and the consummate professional musician. Oh yeah a Dallas Cowboy fan.
